Review of Solar Energy Inclusion in Africa Using Nigeria Model
Abstract
This work reviews solar energy inclusion in Africa using Nigeria as a case study. It reviews studies made on viability, challenges and solution associated with making solar energy as an energy option in Nigeria. The study highlighted data on current industry capacity of solar energy, installed PV and solar energy application distribution. It sheds light on solar energy initiatives and projects and energy capacity development. A listing of success story of solar energy and solar cells fabrication in Nigeria is made. Also, existing government policies and legislations were discussed. Other challenges, current and future prospect were presented. Recommendations were made for speedy and seamless inclusion of solar energy in Nigeria. It is hoped that the study will stimulate further research on ways of addressing energy crisis in Nigeria using solar energy resources.
