Investigation of Soiling Effects on Different Solar Glass Samples in the Climate of Muscat, Oman
Abstract
An experiment has been started in the city of Muscat, Oman to investigate the effects of dust deposition and soiling on the transmittance of solar glass covers. A variety of different glass samples are being exposed in a field situation and the solar transmittance is determined by the means of pyranometer measurements. First data analysis shows a decrease of transmittance of up to 20 % within 4 weeks under favorable weather condition with heavy rain which cleaned off some accumulated dust.
