Evaluation of Symmetric C-PVT Solar Collector Designs with Vertical Bifacial Receivers
Abstract
Symmetrically truncated non-tracking concentrator solar collector designs have been developed, built and outdoor tested. The collector designs have a central vertical bifacial PVT receiver and its geometry has been optimized for medium and low latitudes. The design concept is based on a general reflector form that is truncated to fit different installation requirements. In this paper, novel PureParabola and CPC concentrator solar collector designs concepts with distinct concentration ratios have been built and outdoor tested for their respective electrical Incidence Angle Modifiers (IAM) and electric peak power. The electrical peak power at normal incidence for both CPC geometries (Ci of 1.2 and 1.6), reached 109W and 142W, respectively, being 2.5%rel and 1.5%rel higher than the maximum power obtained for the PureParabola trough design concepts.
