Location Study of Solar Thermal Power Plant in the State of Bahia Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Economic Methods
Abstract
This paper presents a methodology for the evaluation of technical, environmental and economic potential of CSP projects in large scale, based on the cost of electric energy generation. The study was developed for Bahia, located in Northeastern Region of Brazil, and it considered the implementation of a parabolic trough solar power plant (80MW) operating exclusively in solar mode without thermal stores. Based on performed analysis, it was confirmed that Bahia presents great potential for the installation of solar power plants, especially in the west region of State.
