Abstract

Guiding and control index (GCIs) is recognized as a useful tool to direct architecture design in terms of energy consumption, etc. To promote the development of solar energy technologies, and focusing on the utilization of generalized solar energy (GSE), this paper explores the development of some GCIs for the design of residential buildings in the southern part of China. Firstly, some existing GCIs for the application of solar energy technologies in buildings were extracted through literature review. Secondly, new concepts regarding thermal zone and auxiliary zone of residential buildings were put forward, based on which a partitioned mode were introduced. Thirdly, some new GCIs for GSE utilization and energy conservation were developed and their effects were verified by software simulation.
