The SolabCool®, Cooling of Dwellings and Small Offices by Using Waste or Solar Heat
Abstract
This article describes the development of the SolabCool®. The SolabCool® is an air-conditioning unit for dwellings or small offices. It is based on solar or waste heat driven adsorption cooling. The process is intermittent, so 2 tanks with silica gel at reduced pressures are used. To make the machine cost-effective and easy to use, a new high efficiency evaporator was developed. Furthermore, the production process of applying the silica gel at the heat exchanger is optimized, leading to a substantial higher energy density. The so-called cold factor for the SolabCool® is 0.65. As effect of the innovations in the system the cooling capacity has gone up from XX kW to YY KW. This is a very good result compared to other semi-intermittent air-conditioners. The manufacturing plant is ready for the production and further European market introduction in the coming period is foreseen.
