MILP Algorithm for outlet temperature optimization of a hybrid concentrated solar system for SHIP considering a 1D solar field and a dual phase thermocline storage
Abstract
A Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) algorithm for optimal control strategy of a hybrid concentrated solar system for the production of Solar Heat for Industrial Process (SHIP) is developed. The MILP algorithm is a simplified and linear model of the system, designed to give an optimal control trajectory. This trajectory is then injected in a non-linear complex model, more accurate, to ensure its validity. In this paper, the model is described, followed by the results of a case study with a demand of hot oil at 280°C necessary for the production of wood-based panels. The optimized system is constituted of a low-cost parabolic trough in series with a linear Fresnel, a dual phase thermocline storage and a biomass boiler. Comparison with heuristic control trajectories is presented.
