Boundary Conditions and Natural Temperature Decay from Experimental Data Analysis to On-Design of a Tank for CSP Power Plant
Abstract
The ability to control heat losses and know the temperature trend of the thermocline on the walls provides an interesting and innovative tool to guide solutions regarding the design of a molten salts TES. From the data of the experimental campaigns conducted since 2004, a thermodynamic solution was modelled based on lumpedcircuit abstraction under a set of imposed assumptions. The main advantage is the possibility of extending the discharging phases of the thermocline storage and its performance over time as well as an easy comparison of the most efficient design solutions. This has been analysed through a molten salt tank at experimental concentration solar power plant of Research Centre ENEA (Casaccia-Rome).
