Abstract

The work presents the process of solar strategies implementation on the neighborhood scale. A novel methodology is developed for this work that initially uses a data collection matrix to record various features of neighborhood archetypes required for energy modeling. This work then selects three distinct neighborhoods within Canada based upon different attributes related to buildings. Various tools and resources such as GIS, censes data, building codes, etc. are used to gather the matrix data for these three neighborhoods. Subsequently, energy modeling of these neighborhoods will be carried out using EnergyPlus to analyze their energy performance. Upon the identification of suitable solar surfaces, various solar strategies will be proposed and simulated by using PVSyst.
