Numerical Investigation of Energy Absorption in Dual Metal Hydride Bed based Thermo-Chemical Energy Storage System
Abstract
The study deals with the feasibility and performance analysis of a dual metal hydride bed system for high temperature thermal energy absorption. Dual metal hydride bed system includes a high temperature metal hydride (HTMH) which acts as energy storage media operating at higher temperature and a low temperature metal hydride (LTMH), used as hydrogen storage media. NaMgH2F is used as HTMH, while Mg2NiH4 is used as LTMH. Study of the heat transfer phenomenon during thermal energy absorption in HTMH and hydrogen storage in LTMH is performed. The quantity of energy stored in HTMH will be evaluated along with the quantity of hydrogen transfer from HTMH to LTMH.
