Fault Detection for Solar Thermal Systems: Evaluation and Improvement of Existing Algorithms
Abstract
This paper evaluates fault detection algorithms for solar thermal systems, with regard to the most important faults in solar thermal systems. The relevant algorithms from literature are described and sorted according to their respective detection approach. The algorithms are then evaluated with measurement data from 13 solar thermal systems of different sizes (collector area between approximately 3 m² and 2500 m²). The performance of the algorithms will be evaluated with special focus on false alarms. On this basis, general improvements and recommendations for the implementations of the algorithms are derived.
