Application of Analytical Models to Estimate Soiling Losses in Photovoltaic Systems in a Semiarid Region
Abstract
This study evaluates the applicability of analytical models to estimate soiling losses in a photovoltaic (PV) plant in a semiarid region. Regularly cleaned and uncleaned modules are compared using Fixed Fill Factor Model (FFFM), Variable Fill Factor Model (VFFM) and Approximate Maximum Power Point Model (AMPPM). All models show low average difference between estimated and measured values, with VFFM standing out for its higher accuracy. However, seasonality impacts accuracy, highlighting the need for calibration based on local environmental conditions.
