Solar Energy in Schools: a Bibliometric Review on the Potential and Challenges of Photovoltaic Systems in the Educational Environment
Abstract
The use of fossil fuels for energy generation contributes to environmental degradation, and many countries, including Brazil, have been investing in renewable sources such as solar energy. The implementation of photovoltaic systems in schools remains a relatively underexplored area, despite the economic viability of the technology. This study reviewed articles on the installation of photovoltaic systems in educational institutions, highlighting benefits such as cost reduction and the promotion of environmental education. Projects like “Solar Schools in Piauí” have demonstrated the technical and economic feasibility of solar energy in schools. Furthermore, initiatives such as learnscapes have shown that integrating these technologies into the school environment can enrich learning about renewable energy. It is concluded that photovoltaic systems in schools contribute to sustainability and raise environmental awareness among students.
