A study into the optoelectronic property of Bi2+δCr(TM)O6+X (TM = Fe, Mn) on prospective of photovoltaic application
Abstract
Here, we synthesized Bi2+δCr TM O6+X (TM = Fe, Mn) thin films on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) coated glass substrate by spin coating. Bi2+δCrFeO6+X (BCFO) and Bi2+δCrMnO6+X (BCMO) thin films exhibit a monoclinic crystal structure with an indirect band gap of 1.34 eV and 1.43 eV, respectively, exhibiting a significant reduction in the band gap in contrast to single perovskite oxides such as BiFeO3, BiCrO3, and BiMnO3. Furthermore, solar cells (SCs) were fabricated with suitable hole- and electron- transfer layers based on band alignment. Albeit small, both BCFO and BCMO based SCs show photovoltaic (PV) conversion efficiencies, 0.09 % and 0.24 %, respectively.
