Abstract

This study compares the economic performance of three domestic water heating systems: electric heater, heat pump, and solar thermal (SDHWS), all with photovoltaic (PV) support. Simulations were based on climate data from Florianópolis, Brazil. TRNSYS software was used to assess energy consumption and PV production. Life Cycle Savings (LCS) were calculated, and the results show all solar-assisted options are more cost-effective than using grid-only electricity. Scenario analysis will explore variations in costs, electricity tariffs, and policy impacts. Despite small differences, SDHWS is slightly more economical under current conditions.
